Spantech was commissioned to construct a temporary yet highly sophisticated exhibition structure for the “Harry Potter – Visions of Magic” exhibition at the Tour & Taxis site in Brussels. This project required not only speed and precision but also highly customizable and technically advanced solutions to meet the demanding requirements of the exhibition.
We were challenged with an extremely tight timeline. The contract was confirmed on May 31st, with the first trucks already arriving by June 7th. Installation began the very next day with the goal to deliver the completed structure by the beginning of July.
To meet the client’s needs, Spantech adapted the standard installation procedure. Instead of the typical approach of erecting all portal frames before proceeding with the roof, cladding, and flooring, Spantech completed a 50x45m section first. This section was made watertight and covered to allow the client to start the interior setup while Spantech continued with the final 50x25m section. This innovation in process allowed for maximum efficiency and minimized delays for the client’s exhibition setup.
Our I-Novation structure, equipped with a robust truss system capable of supporting 1.5T hanging loads, is designed to handle heavy installations with ease. This standard feature was critical for the exhibition, allowing organizers to optimize space and securely hang their heavy materials.
The site at Tour & Taxis presented a significant challenge with its 1m level difference over the length of the structure. Spantech’s engineering team devised a solution that accommodated these ground irregularities without compromising stability or functionality, integrating a heavy duty floor system capable of supporting 1000kg/m².
Spantech delivered a state-of-the-art modular building that met all the client’s expectations. The structure not only provided a visually stunning and functional space but also allowed for the intricate and immersive setup required for the “Visions of Magic” exhibition. The adaptability of Spantech’s modular solutions was key in overcoming the tight timelines and technical challenges, ensuring a successful and timely delivery.
