Temporary Gymnasium for International School Utrecht - Spantech

Temporary Gymnasium for International School Utrecht

In the summer of 2023, Spantech was commissioned by the International School Utrecht to deliver a temporary gymnasium facility, rented for a period of 36 months. The project aimed to provide a high-quality sports facility for the school while ensuring that it could be set up quickly and be adaptable to future needs.

Project Timeline

Start of Groundwork: End of November 2023

Completion: Just 15 weeks later, the temporary gymnasium was fully operational

Key Features

Modular and Flexible Design: The gymnasium is divided into two sections with an acoustic partition wall, allowing two different groups to use the space simultaneously without disturbing each other.

Size and Space: The facility covers an area of 825 m², providing ample space for various sports activities.

Adaptability: The roof design allows for the installation of a range of sports equipment, making it suitable for different types of physical education needs.

Natural Light and Ventilation: Large windows on both sides of the structure ensure plenty of natural daylight, while the built-in air handling system maintains a comfortable temperature year-round.

Fully Equipped: Includes changing rooms with showers and toilets, offering a complete solution for the school’s needs.

Custom Aesthetics: The external cladding of the building was designed to match the look and feel of the International School Utrecht, blending seamlessly with the surrounding architecture.

Sustainability and Flexibility

One of the standout aspects of Spantech’s solution is its modular design. Once the contract ends, the gymnasium can be fully dismantled, with all components reusable for future projects. This approach not only supports sustainability but also allows the building to adapt to the school’s evolving needs.

Results

The project was successfully delivered on time, offering the International School Utrecht a state-of-the-art gymnasium that supports both current and future physical education requirements. The school’s commitment to sustainability was mirrored by Spantech’s use of circular construction practices.
