When Cirque du Soleil set out to create Messi10, a groundbreaking live show celebrating football legend Lionel Messi, they needed more than just a venue—they needed a touring production space that could travel the world and deliver consistent, high-quality experiences in every location. That’s where Spantech came in.

The challenge

Cirque du Soleil envisioned an immersive, arena-style show blending acrobatics and football theatrics with high rigging demands and optimal audience sightlines. The venue had to be:

• Fully modular and mobile, to support a global tour starting in Barcelona and heading to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Colombia and Argentina.
• Fast to install, to keep up with the tight tour schedule.
• Robust and adaptable, withstanding varying climates and accommodating large-scale production equipment.
• Visually striking, aligning with Cirque du Soleil’s creative standards.

Our solution

Spantech delivered a 60 x 65 metre touring venue, designed to perform like a permanent arena but with the speed and flexibility of modular construction. Using our GRAND ARENA system, we provided a structure that featured:

• A large free span for unobstructed sightlines and high-performance rigging.
• Quick build time, thanks to off-site manufacturing and streamlined installation processes.
• Customisable interiors, including rigging points, lighting options, and climate adaptations to suit different countries.
• Circular construction principles, allowing the venue to be dismantled, shipped and reused with minimal waste.

The result

The Messi10 show opened at Barcelona’s Parc del Fòrum to critical acclaim, offering a theatrical experience timed to exactly 90 minutes—mirroring a football match. With over 30 performances in Barcelona alone before continuing its world tour, the show attracted thousands of fans and successfully merged sport, art, and innovation under one roof.
