When Royal Huisman, a luxury shipyard based in The Netherlands, needed extra space to build the impressive super yacht Nilaya, they turned to Spantech. With the need for more space in order to finish the build, they needed to extend the existing hall without causing disruptions to the project schedule.
Spantech’s patented I-Novation construction was adapted to connect to the existing hall and provides a 300m2 semi-permanent extension with a 13m internal clearance. The extension was fully insulated and equipped with a 10m wide overhead door, allowing easy transportation of materials for the project.
Our modular structure was the perfect temporary solution for the shipyard’s short-term need for extra space. Because of the structure’s turnkey design, the hall extension was quick to install, and once the build was complete, the structure was dismantled within 24 hours, leaving no lasting impact on the site location.
Spantech’s hall extension provided the necessary space for the yacht build while ensuring that the build met the high standards required for such an exclusive project. The quality production and attention to detail of Spantech’s modular design complimented the skill and precision that goes into building a superyacht like Nilaya.
“For an exclusive yacht building project Spantech extended our existing shipbuilding hall with a temporary structure. Spantech’s in-house engineering capabilities and their technological advanced structures made this challenging project possible.” (Gabry Harkeman – Royal Huisman)
