Spantech to build new heavy maintenance hangar in Morocco with Sabena Engineering

On 15 October 2025, Spantech officially marked the groundbreaking of a new heavy maintenance hangar at Benslimane Airport near Casablanca. The project, commissioned by Maintenance Aero Maroc (MAM), a subsidiary of Sabena Engineering, demonstrates a major step in developing regional aviation MRO capabilities.

Spantech has been contracted to design and build the hangar structure, which will support heavy maintenance operations for C-130 Hercules and F-16 aircraft. Construction is already underway, and the facility is scheduled to be operational in the second half of 2026. This milestone underscores Spantech’s growing footprint in international aviation infrastructure projects.

The initiative is a collaborative effort between Moroccan public partners, Sabena Engineering, Lockheed Martin and Spantech, combining local strategic priorities with European and global aerospace expertise.

For Spantech, delivering this facility reinforces its position as a provider of complex, modular hangar solutions for defence and commercial aviation. The project will contribute to the development of Morocco as a regional MRO hub and support high-skill job creation within the sector.
